Another hydroponic dagga lab found in Farrar Park
In 2015 the Hawks also uncovered R100 000 worth of marijuana, which was grown in a sophisticated hydroponic drug lab in Farrar Park.
Members of the EMPD K9 and Intervention Unit (SWAT) arrested a 32-year-old man in Boksburg on January 9 for cultivating dagga at his home.
According to the EMPD spokesperson Chief Supt Wilfred Kgasago, information received from concerned citizens led the officers to the suspect’s house in Beit Avenue, Farrar Park.
Upon entering the house, at about 5.30pm, officers reportedly found the suspect watering and pruning nine dagga plants.
“Over and above these, seven boxes with bulbs used as incubators for dagga and 100 ziplock bags of dagga were uncovered.
“All the equipment and the dagga plants were confiscated and booked in at Boksburg Police Station,” said Kgasago.
The man was arrested for cultivating dagga and is expected to appear in the Boksburg Magistrate’s court soon.
Boksburg SAPS spokesperson Sgt Cebisa Maseko said the police thank community members for providing information which helps them to fight the drug trade which continues to plague our city. -@FanieFLK
