Bikers gather in Boksburg to support girl with nephrotic syndrome

Agamis Elisium Bikers and Why Not Free Bikers groups recently held an event in Boksburg to raise money to cover medical costs for nine-year-old Kaylene Crew, who has nephrotic syndrome.

Almost R5 000 was raised during the event through the sale of stalls where supporters sold food and other products.

There was also a donation box for monetary donations.

Kaylene lives with both her unemployed parents in Centurion. Financial difficulties forced the family to post their plight on Facebook, asking for financial assistance for the little girl’s medical expenses.

This then prompted the bikers groups to urgently organise the charity event, held at Pilgrims Pub & Grill in Angelo Business Park, Main Reef Road, on September 25, in support of the family.

Although organisers were expecting record numbers of participants, some 250 people came to support the charity event.

The organisers blamed the poor turnout on several public events reportedly held in nearby towns and the very short notice.

Other than that, the event went smoothly, with people enjoying drinks and food while being entertained by musicians, including Marius Strydom, Piet Pompies, Priscilla Smith, Stiaan Reynierse, Louw van den Heever and others.

During the event, there were also stalls, children’s games, a lucky draw and other fun activities. The organisers have already indicated that they are planning to hold another event to raise money for the little girl soon.
