Police make huge dagga haul in Jerusalem informal settlement

Police arrested a Jerusalem informal settlement man after they found him in possession of 18.062kg of dagga.

Police officers were patrolling Delmore informal settlement when they spotted the suspicious man carrying a bucket. They approached him and discovered that his bucket was full of dagga.

The man reportedly asked the police to first go with him to his home, as he wanted to lock his car and the house.

He led the officers to his house and when they arrived at the address, police found another bucket full of dagga and 103 dagga slopes in the house.

The illegal herb along with R460 believed to be proceeds of crime were confiscated and the owner was taken into police custody. He was due to appear in court on Friday, September 8, facing a charge of possession of dagga and dealing in dagga.

The station commander Col Elsie Mashinini warned would-be drug dealers that her members would never tolerate the illegal activity by unscrupulous people who feed the community, the youth in particular, with such illegal and dangerous substances. -@FanieFLK
