Crime brief Boksburg SAPS: Robberies are rife

The following criminal activities occurred within the Boksburg SAPS policing precinct between March 3 and 5.

Theft of motor vehicle

A Boksburg North woman was left stranded after thieves stole her Honda Ballade outside Pep store on Commissioner Street, Boksburg CBD, on March 3.

The victim told the police that she parked the car in the roadside parking and went shopping.

She later return to the roadside parking and noticed that her car has been stolen.

Police are investigating the theft.

Attempted murder

Police are investigating a case of attempted murder after an Angelo informal settlement man was severely assaulted on March 4.

The man was rushed to hospital after police found him lying on the ground, bleeding profusely, outside Good Luck tavern.

Police were this week still trying to determine the facts associated with the incident.

Business robbery

A gang of armed thugs robbed the Steers and Engen Garage in Trichardts Road, Parkrand, on March 4.

According to the police reports, three armed men entered the garage shop and pretended to be customers.

Subsequently, they held the staff at gunpoint and stole an undisclosed amount of cash from both the petrol station and the adjacent Steers.

They also took cigarettes from the convenience store of the Engen garage.

Police are investigating a business robbery case.

Burglary at residential premises

In Libradene, thieves forced their way into a residential property on Shaul Avenue and stole goods worth about R20 000, on March 5.

The home owners told police they had awoken to discover two men exiting the property by jumping over the fence.

Upon further investigation, they discovered that the thugs had forced opened the door to enter the house and stolen a TV set, laptop and other valuables.
