She was born and raised in Boksburg and attended Laerskool Westwood and Hoërskool Dr EG Jansen.

Bianca, who was also crowned Lady Gracious about three years ago, has owned HmH (Here my Herder) School of Modelling and Deportment for the past 18 years.

“This is my passion – working with children,” said Bianca.

She has been married for 10 years to “the best husband, Hedley Birnie, who supports me in everything I do”.

Bianca describes herself as a sincere, loving, fun person with a good sense of humour.

“What you see is what you get, and that is my motto. Don’t put on a fake mask,” said Bianca.

“Never stay behind your mask – do what you want to do and don’t be scared. Live your dreams and use the talents God gave you.”

She entered Mrs Glamour Africa as a gift to herself.

Bianca encouraged the learners to get out from behind their masks and to use their God-given talents.

“I’m always busy with my modelling school and helping others,” she explained.

“I want to take what I’ve learned from the pageant and teach it to my students. I really want to help more people in the community. I want go out to all the schools on the East Rand to motivate the children and tell them that they can do anything they put their mind to.”

Working with children and seeing them grow and come out from behind their masks is what motivates Bianca.

Former Boksburg resident, Bianca Birnie (35), was crowned Mrs Glamour Africa in December, at the OR Tambo Hotel in Kempton Park.

In January, Bianca visited Laerskool Goudrand and Laerskool Westwood and gave a talk, titled “Wearing a Fake Mask”.

She encouraged the youngsters to follow their dreams.

Working with orphanages motivates her to do more. “Sometimes it’s just difficult, because there’s not a lot of help,” she said.

As Mrs Glamour Africa, Bianca’s live has been quite busy and has changed for the good.

“I’m very busy, especially with people inviting me to events – it is just amazing,” said Bianca.

“I’m so confident in everything I do. I was never scared or anything, but now it is just different.”

For the past 10 years, Bianca has been helping many charities and worked with two children’s homes on the East Rand.

“I see the charity work as a way of giving back to my community,” she said.

Non-profit organisation Dignity Dreams was the beneficiary of the pageant.

Dignity Dreams manufactures and distributes sanitary wear for underprivileged schoolgirls across the country.

Finalists who took part in the pageant had to raise funds towards the dignity packs, which can be washed and reused.

Bianca was privileged to have raised 80 Dignity Dreams packs and 200 desk bags.

She also has a soft spot for the elderly and loves spending time at old age homes.
