Crime spree: Thieves cash in on home goods, vehicles in Boksburg

Boksburg SAPS detectives are looking for thieves who recently stole cars and broke into several homes and escaped with stolen items worth thousands of rand, in separate incidents.

Boksburg SAPS spokesperson, Sgt Cebisa Maseko, said one of the burglaries was reported in Libradene, where thugs forced their way into a home on Bigwood Avenue and stole goods worth about R500 000, on January 29.

They stole a firearm, ammunition, jewellery, TV set, laptop and other valuable items.

* A second break-in happened sometime between 9pm and 2am, on Friday night, January 27 in Parkrand.

Thugs broke into a home on Butler Street through one of the windows and stole valuable goods worth about R55 000.

The homeowner reportedly slept through the whole thing.

He was later woken up by the alarm which went off, apparently after it detected the intruders.

He checked the house but could not hear or noticed anything suspicious and he went back to sleep.

It was only at about 7am when he noticed that the window was forced opened and several high-priced gadgets and other electric appliances were missing.

* A third break-in was reported on January 28, in Sunward Park, where thieves forced opened the main door of a house on Harp Road.

The owner of the house is away and the burglary was reported to the police by an armed response security officer.

It’s still unclear if anything was stolen from the property.

* In Freeway Park, criminals burgled a house on Tokai Road and stole goods worth about R20 000.

The incident happened on January 29.


Theft of motor vehicle

* Four cars and a motor cycle were between January 26 and 29 stolen from different locations, in separate incidents, within the Boksburg policing precinct.

The affected areas include Cason Road (Cason), Commissioner Street (Boksburg CBD), the roadside parking on Leeuwpoort Street and Trichardts Road (Boksburg CBD), Ruffels Street, (Cinderella) and Sunward Park Lifestyle Centre on Kingfisher Avenue.
