Crime snippets: Thieves enjoy a merry time over the weekend

Below are some of the serious crimes committed within the Boksbug SAPS policing precinct between December 8 and 12.

BURGLARY

Thieves broke into a Parkrand residential house through the window and stole goods worth more than R40 000, on Sunday, December 11.

The house owner told the police that he had left his home at about noon. It was at about 6.30pm when he returned home to find one of the windows wide open.

Upon investigating, he discovered that his two laptops, camera, perfumes, money and other goods were missing.

A case of burglary was opened and investigations are underway.

* Burglars also broke into a Sunward Park home and stole valuable goods while the homeowner and her family were asleep in the same property, on December 10.

* On the very same day, thieves forced their way into another Sunward Park home and helped themselves to the homeowner’s valuable belongings.

The estimated value of the stolen goods is R34 300 and they included a piano, amplifier, personal computer, laptop, money and jewellery.

* Meanwhile, on Thursday night, December 8, burglars entered another Sunward Park home and stole goods worth about R7 000.

RAPE

A Boksburg woman told the Boksburg police that she was home on Voortrekker Road, on December 8, when an acquaintance whom she shares a compound with raped her inside a toilet.

The accused reportedly noticed the victim entering the toilet before he allegedly forced opened the toilet door and demanded sex.

The victim stated that a struggle ensued when the attacker started to molest her.

The suspect subsequently overpowered the victim, undressed her and raped her. -@FanieFLK
