Dealership salesman allegedly steals customer’s car

Imagine taking your car to a dealership for it to be sold, then at the end of the day you learn that it has been stolen.

This happened to a Witfield resident who was left devastated after his car was stolen at a car dealership in Rietfontein Road, four weeks ago.

According Andre Rousseau, he received a call from the owner of Mac Auto, alerting him that an employee at the dealership had allegedly stolen his Opel Corsa Lite and that the suspect was nowhere to be found.

“My wife and I immediately rushed to the car dealership and we saw that the car was really not there. The owner of the car dealership explained to us that one of his salesmen stole his money and took our car and drove away.

“We are so deeply hurt because that was our only car. We had plans that when people bought that car we would take the money and buy a new one,” he said.

Rousseau’s wife said the man who stole their car was a friendly person; he would usually call them informing them on the progress of the car being brought.

She said she hopes the police find him because he will continue to do what he did to them to others.

Mac Horn, the owner of Mac Auto dealership, confirmed that his salesman had stolen the car.

“This person who stole the car was working for me. He stole my money, laptop and the couple’s car. He is no longer coming to work after stealing what he stole. I have opened a case against him and I hope he will be found, to return the things he stole from me and my customers,” Horn said.

The couple have opened a case against the suspect who allegedly stole their car.

According to Capt Juanita Coetzer, communications officer of the Boksburg North SAPS, a case of theft has been opened and the police are still investigating.
