A joyful week for Cosmos Old Age Home
Cosmos Old Age Home enjoyed a joyful three days, from September 29 to October 1, in commemoration of the International Week for the Aged.
The home marked the opening day of their week of activities with a music concert, on Thursday, September 29.
The Cosmos Old Age Home Kitchen Band performed for their fellow residents, who sang along cheerfully to the beat of music.
One of the highlights of the week was when residents had a meet-and-greet session with three Titans cricket players, on September 30.
The elderly couldn’t contain their excitement as they took turns to have photographs taken with the cricketers.
Vernon Roux also entertained the residents, who enjoyed his music.
Shoprite and Checkers Hyper donated two large cakes to make the prestigious event sweet.
Cricketer David Wiese said there wasn’t a better place they could have spent their day off than at the Home.
“Celebrating this day with the residents here has been exciting; everyone here is awesome and kind,” he said.
Another highlight was the annual fund-raising fete, on International Day for Older Persons, October 1, when Rudi van Niekerk and his guitar provided the entertainment.
According to Cosmos Old Age Home’s social worker, Karen Meyer, the week was a great success and everyone enjoyed it thoroughly.
“The elderly are exhausted from all the excitement,” she said.
