SPCC introduces cricket academy for juniors

The Sunward Park Cricket Club has introduced a junior academy for players as young as four years of age, to revive the sport in Boksburg.

Players from all clubs are welcome. The academy aims to develop players in the game’s three major aspects: batting, bowling and fielding.

It also aims to prepare players for club, provincial, national and even international level cricket.

Private and group lessons will be offered via professional coaching 24/7, headed by player-coach Michael Heger.

Training sessions will include match-condition practise and will be held strictly outdoors.

Heger, an all-rounder, currently plies his trade for the Bedfordview Easterns Premier League side.

He’s coached in England, alongside professional county level coaches, while also spending a season playing for Ealing Cricket Club.

He’s also been running his own cricket academy for two years, producing provincial players at teenage level.

For more information, contact Heger on 071 594 7030, or email to jheger@telkomsa.net or michaelheger69@gmail.com.
