Long arm of the law catches up to sentenced thieves

Two suspects were sentenced to 10 and 12 years imprisonment respectively for housebreaking and being in possession of stolen property.

Twenty-eight-year-old Sibusiso Mthimkulu was sentenced to 10 years imprisonment and Musa Makhosi who is also 28 years old was sentenced to 12 years imprisonment.

On June 20, at about 9.30am the complainant alleged that he was at home with his wife in Van Dyk Park, when two unknown males broke into his house and stole his laptop and three brandy bottles from his house.

Luckily a CPF member in Van Dyk Park saw the suspects carrying a bag and requested to search them.

As the CPF member was approaching them the two suspects ran away before they could be seized.

The CPF member called for backup and the suspects were later arrested.

The stolen laptop and the three brandy bottles were found in their possession.

The suspects were handed to the Dawn Park Police Station.

The case was assigned to Det-Const Mpumi Mfusi who investigated the case.

She secured a conviction in housebreaking and possession of stolen property.

Both accused appeared at Palm Ridge Court where they were sentenced.
