EG Jansen pupil qualifies for SA Tumbling Champs
Kiara Stears (14) from Beyers Park won two gold and a silver in three recent qualifying rounds to earn her spot in the South African Tumbling Championships.
This national tournament is scheduled to take place in Cape Town during October.
The Grade 8 pupil from EG Jansen began her qualifying campaign on June 4 at the John Barrable Hall in Benoni where she settled for the runner-up position in her Level Three category.
She then moved on to the second round of qualifiers on July 23, also at the John Barrable Hall where she made her qualifying intentions clear.
Stears finished on top for a gold medal and also finished with a trophy for the most points in her category.
Round three of qualifiers were held at the Walter Sisulu Hall in Randburg where she sealed her spot for the SA Champs, also finishing first for another gold medal.
She is also eyeing qualifying for the SA Gymnastic Championships that will also be held in the Mother City.
