Work starts to address city’s power outages

The metro has from July 8 started with its R10 million project set aside for the replacement work of the 8km frequently failing medium voltage underground cables in the Boksburg Area.

According to Themba Gadebe, metro spokesperson, the cables being replaced are feeding Knights, Jet Park, Anderbolt, Ravensklip, Ravenswood, Farrar Park, Boksburg North and surrounding areas.

“A number of streets in the above-mentioned areas will be simultaneously dug up during this period to make way for the three week-long replacement work that is expected to stabilise electricity supply in the area.
