Keep Me Safe House renovated to aid vulnerable children

The Keep Me Safe House in Boksburg has recently undergone a major facelift in an attempt to make it a welcome, clean and safe environment for the children to stay in.

The house was renovated by good Samaritans, Acorn Foundation.

The Keep Me Safe House is a temporary safe house to many children found in need of care and protection.

The children are placed within the house by a court order from the Children’s Court.

“The house was in a state of collapse when we arrived here,” said director at Acorn Foundation, Sue Smit.

“There are so many of these homes that need help, so we try to step in wherever we can; however, the caregivers need to be heard as well.”

According to Acorn Foundation CEO, Rudy Joles, the company cannot operate and function without the support of their sponsors and, in this case, he thanks ODBB Attorneys, Paintography Paint Studio, GloCell, Karuna Rose, X-Pac and all their volunteers.

The housemother at the Keep me Safe House, Paloma Mlangeni, told the Advertiser that there has been a huge improvement inside the house.

“Acorn Foundation replaced and fixed almost everything that was broken, they have painted out the house and made it very welcoming,” she said.

Boksburg Child and Family Welfare also thanked the Acorn Foundation for volunteering their services and resources to improve the circumstances of the children housed in the Keep me Safe House.

“The organisation will forever be grateful and appreciative of the renovations conducted and the new appliances donated,” said acting assistant director of the organisation Vanessa Naidoo-Pillay.

“Boksburg Child and Family Welfare is undergoing a very tough time and feels fortunate to have had the Acorn Foundation committed to assisting the Keep Me Safe House.

“The organisation has taken into consideration that Acorn Foundation has seen the need to restore the functioning of the house to benefit the children, hence our gratitude is all-embracing.”
