EG Jansen pockets two wins at Kearsney Easter Rugby Festival

Hoërskool Dr EG Jansen pocketed two out of three wins at the highly successful ninth Kearsney Easter Rugby Festival held during the Easter weekend.

The festival wrapped up with two teams, Selborne College and Glenwood High School, remaining unbeaten.

Selborne College beat HTS Middelburg and Maritzburg College and drew with SACS, while Glenwood High School beat Dr EG Jansen, HTS Middelburg and Dale College.

Despite losing 14-13 against Glenwood, EG Jansen did beat Hoërskool Noord-Kaap 40-17, and on day three, Maritzburg College by 47-8.

Etienne Fynn, managing director of the Sharks Academy, said the standard of rugby this year had been excellent, as has come to be expected from the festival.

“Even though there were some high-scoring matches, this was more about the quality of play than that the teams had been mismatched,” Fynn said.

He said there had been an excellent pool of talent on display at the festival this year.

The three-day event was well supported with excellent crowds who were able to enjoy a high standard of competitive rugby in good weather.

It proved again to be a successful event for organisers and sponsors Standard Bank, Nashua Durban and the Sharks Academy.
