Off-duty police officer robbed in Sunward Park

An off-duty police officer lost goods worth more than R25 000 in a daring robbery, along Trichardts Road in Sunward Park, on February 7.

The officer was robbed after his private car had broken down along the road.

Two men, driving in a black Golf, approached him while he was checking under the bonnet. This is when one of the suspects pointed a firearm at the officer, demanding he hand over his valuable goods.

In an attempt to save his belongings, the officer drew his loaded service pistol.

However, his reaction did nothing to deter the thugs from robbing him, as they stole his work laptop and a bag full of clothes, before they fled the scene in their black Golf.

A case of armed robbery was registered at the Boksburg SAPS, and detectives are investigating the matter.

The employees were then taken to the woman’s bedroom where they, along with their boss, were held hostage at gunpoint. The remaining thugs ransacked the house.

The stolen goods included a Samsung S6, Samsung Galaxy J1, Samsung notebook, jewellery, a watch, some cash, clothes, a Toyota Fortuner and other items.

* In another house robbery, robbers forced their way into a home in the Boksburg CBD and stole goods worth about R4 000.
