EG Jansen pupil (16) mauled by vicious dog

Rudolf Snyman was attacked by his neighbour’s big brown dog in Ravens Crescent on January 20 at around 4.30pm.

His grandmother, Charmaine Snyman, spoke to the Advertiser regarding the attack that landed the Hoërskool Dr EG Jansen pupil in hospital with severe injuries to his face.

“My neighbour has these two little dogs that always run into the street and in the process they lead other dogs in the neighbouring properties to always bark loudly and make noise.

“On the day, my grandson went into the street to chase these little dogs back into their home and while still busy my neighbours arrived in their car.

“Rudolf approached them to ask them to secure their dogs but while still chatting to them, their younger son opened the gate and that’s when the big brown dog came out and attacked Rudolf,” said Snyman.

She said her neighbours never attempted to stop the dog and instead they just drove into their property, “leaving the dog to attack my grandchild”.

Snyman said she immediately phoned the Boksburg North SAPS but was told to go to the SPCA.

When she contacted the SPCA they told her there was no need coming out because the dog was not injured.

Boksburg North SAPS spokesperson, Lieut Juanita Coetzer, said the family should go to the police station to speak to the detectives who will then advice them on the best action to take.

“Or they can an even approach our detectives branch office situated at the intersection of Trichardts and First streets,” said Coetzer.
