Bikers pledge support for annual Toy Run

Carnival City has pledged its support for the 33rd Annual Gauteng Motorcycle Toy Run, by providing a start venue for the hundreds of motorcyclists who will participate in the mass ride on Sunday, November 29.

The route will end at the Benoni Northerns Athletics Club.

This will be the first time that Carnival City has provided a start venue for the event, and the fifth consecutive year that the Benoni Northerns Athletics Club has hosted the finish.

Various biker clubs will be participating in the mass ride from four venues, in the north, south, east and west of Gauteng, to collects gifts and toys for underprivileged children.

Each year, some 20 000 bikers participate in the mass ride and over 25 000 gifts are collected to be distributed to service clubs and child-related charity organisations, so that the children can celebrate Christmas with a gift.

The mass ride from Carnival City will start at 9am.

People not participating in the mass ride are also encouraged to visit Benoni Northerns Athletics Club to watch the bikers arrive and join in the fun.

There will be over 100 stalls selling food and crafts, a sound stage with two live bands, entertainment and a beer garden.

The entrance fee is a toy. Ideally, educational toys or toiletries should be donated. No toy guns or knives will be accepted.

People are urged to bear in mind that battery operated toys are of little use once the batteries die.
