Witfield robbery victim was followed from town

A woman was robbed of her handbag and one of her rings, in an armed robbery that occurred in the driveway of her property, in Witfield.

The incident took place yesterday, August 6, at 12.40pm.

According to the Boksburg North SAPS communications officer, Lieut Juanita Coetzer, the victim was on her way from town when she noticed that she was being followed by a white vehicle.

“As she was driving down the driveway, the white vehicle also pulled into the driveway,” said Coetzer.

“The driver of the white vehicle remained in the car while two unknown men jumped out and approached the woman, who was still in her vehicle.

“One of the suspects pointed a firearm at her and the other had a hammer in his possession.

“They ordered her to get out of her vehicle, after which one of the men grabbed the ring from her finger, as well as her handbag.”

The suspects immediately fled the scene in the white vehicle.

No shots were fired.

Boksburg North SAPS is investigating the incident.
