One dead, two injured in Reiger Park triple shooting

The Reiger Park police are investigating a shooting at around 5pm on May 12, in which one man died.

According to police spokesman Sgt Mashudu Phathela, two other men were also injured.

Phathela said the men were walking together in Sunny Street, Reiger Park, when unknown suspects opened fire on them.

A 26-year-old Boksburg Prison warder identified as Burton de Freeze died on the scene after he was shot four times, in the spinal cord, in the neck, left ear and the left hand.

The other two landed in hospital after one was shot in the stomach and the other in the leg.

Phathela said the motive for the shooting is unknown.

“Due to no witnesses coming forward at this stage, we don’t even know if the shooters were driving or walking,” said Phathela.

He hoped the two surviving men will shed information on the incident.

The name of the hospital they were admitted to cannot be revealed in order to protect them from their attackers.

Investigations are continuing.
