Parkrand Spar robbery: Staff held in cash room at gunpoint

Store manager, Michael Roberts, said six gunmen stormed at the Parkrand Spar, at around 7pm, on Saturday, April 18.

“They shouted at everyone to move to the back of the store, where the robbers held us at gunpoint,” said Roberts.

The spokesperson for the Boksburg SAPS, Lieut Kwendzakwakhe Ngobese, confirmed the robbery and added that the police are searching for six armed men.

Some of the robbers then forced Roberts to the cash room where they held him at gunpoint.

They ordered Roberts to open the electronic safe, which he could not do because it required a code.

They then stole R18 000 in cash from another safe and robbed employees of their cellphones.

The victims were not injured in the incident but were left quite shaken.

Roberts said staff members have already received counseling and the store is back to business as usual.

He stated that they are looking into stepping up security to prevent such incidents.

Boksburg police are investigating a case of business robbery, and they have asked anyone with information to call 011 841 6859.
