Witfield church pastor in court over ‘satanic sex ritual’

A Witfield church pastor is appearing in the Germiston Magistrates Court alongside the grandparents and uncle of a 9-year-old boy who was allegedly sexually abused over a number of years.

It is alleged that the boy was molested by his grandparents, uncle and pastor.

It is also alleged that a satanic ritual that involved the molestation of the child happened inside a church, located in Witfield, in 2013.

The SAPS’s Occult-Related Crime Unit is investigating the matter.

Gauteng police spokesperson Col Katlego Mogale confirmed the arrest of the four.

They are appearing in the Germiston Magistrate’s Court for a formal bail application today.

Defence attorney Henk Strydom was hopeful that they will get bail.

“We are waiting for the court to make a ruling,” he said.

He believed the state’s case against his clients is not strong.

“Medical reports does not show any signs of abuse and no evidence of any satanic rituals going on at the church was found.”
