Windmill Park Nyaope addicts to receive help

The New Life Recovery Centre is offering free help to the Windmill Park youngsters who have found themselves addicted to Nyaope.

This comes after Pastor Arnold Fortune, of the Christian Fellowship Church, approached the Advertiser, trying to help the boys to kick the habit.

The boys recently shared their harrowing ordeal of a life on the street with Advertiser readers, and appealed to the community for help as they battle to overcome their addiction.

Pastor Ronnie Naidoo, of the Siloam Church, in Dalpark, said the six boys started their road to recovery on Monday, February 9.

The official opening of the centre took place in 2013, in Brakpan.

Its community outreach programme is focused on rehabilitating and providing constant support for people affected by addictions, from drug addiction to gambling, and even shopping addictions.

The centre runs a 12-month programme in which the mentors and facilitators guide and support the addicts in a Christ-based course that will help them change and rid them of the craving and temptation of their addiction.

New Life, in partership with the REACH Programme, advises school staff and businesses to refer addicted teenagers and adults in the work place to the centre, and to not cut off those affected by addictions.

“Addictions are on the rise in our communities and we encourage all members of the community to come together against this,” said Naidoo.

He said they are also working in conjunction with some schools in Reiger Park, Delpark, Villa Liza and Rondebult, to inform pupils of the dangers of drugs and how they can destroy their lives.” – @NalediBoksburg
