Runners ready for the road

Race hosts, Benoni Harriers Athletics Club, are preparing for a bumper field this year.

The 42km event serves as a qualifying event for the Comrades Marathon, while a 21km half-marathon, 10km (CGA Championship sanctioned race) and 5km run are also on offer.

Late entries will be taken at the venue, from 4.30am, with the main race starting at 6am.

The organisers request that motorist exercise patience on affected roads along the route.

These include Struben Street, Milburn Street, O’ Reilly Merry Street, Hospital Road, Great North Road, Thomas Road, Elm Road, Benoni Road, President Brand Road, President Boshoff Street, Sarel Cilliers Street and Brodigan Street.
