Naicker jets off to Italy for World Champs

Kashen Naicker from Boksburg convincingly won the karting finals to be crowned the South African Karting Champion at the Vereeniging National Karting Circuit on Saturday, September 27.

Kashen, who is the son of three-time South African drag-racing champion Logan Naicker, came into the tournament with a 12-point advantage, leaving him needing two second places and a fourth place finishes in the three-race series to wrap up the championship.

He finished second in the first race, second in the following and won the final race to comfortably clinch the championships with an overall 15 points.

Kashen will now depart for Verona in Italy on October 14, to compete in the World Rok Finals, which will see more than 25 countries participate in the karting jamboree.

The 15-year-old began his karting career in 2010 when he was approached by former BMW engineer Shaun Sing, now the owner of Tune-Tech.
