Appeal to locate missing boy (3) from Reiger Park

The Reiger Park police are asking for the public's help in locating a missing three-year-old boy who has not been seen since August 6.

His mother Leizell Van Wyk says she is getting increasingly worried about her son, Cuburne Lavone Van Wyk, as it’s now more than two days since she was last seen.

Cuburne vanished at about 4pm on Wednesday, after he was last seen playing with his brother and sister outside the family home at 125 Benzela Street, Road Reserve, Ramaphosa. The family started looking for him, but could not find him, and reported him as a missing child at the Reiger Park SAPS at about 7.35pm on the same day.

A search was immediately initiated and all the other police units currently deplored in the township including the K9 Dog unit joined the Reiger Park SAPS in the search for the missing boy.

An informant told the police that the boy was last seen with Katlebo Phoku, well known as ‘Chicken’. Both Chicken and the boy were apparently seen walking towards Elsburg. Officers searched Katlebo Phoku’s home at 81 Road Reserve, but both the missing boy and Katlebo could not be found.

Police also received information that Katlebo frequent Lambton Shopping Centre, Germiston and Elsburg, where he usually spends time with his homeless friends. Police went there but still they couldn’t find the pair. The search for Cuburne continues. He is described as Asian, five foot three inches, slim, with long dark brown hair and wears glasses.

Cuburne is described a coloured boy light brown in complexion, about a metre tall and he was last seen wearing a blue tracksuit and green takkies. He speaks Afrikaans.

Anyone with information should contact the Reiger Park police on 011 916 7000 or alternatively call the boy’s mother Leizell Van Wyk on 074 203 6186. – @FanieBoksbug
