Six arrested in special operation

A joint operation conducted from Wednesday afternoon, July 2, to Thursday morning, July 3, saw six drug dealers arrested and R20 500 worth of drugs confiscated.

The operation was conducted by the EMPD and SAPS from the Vosloorus precincts.

According to Supt Wilfred Kgasago, spokesperson for the EMPD, one suspect on Interpol’s wanted list, for murder and robbery in Swaziland, was also arrested.

“The friend harbouring the wanted criminal was also locked up.”

He says that the police commenced their raid at both Sotho and Zulu hostels in Vosloorus around 3pm, during which the suspects were apprehended for possession of 42 cocaine rocks, 110 nyaupe packets, 200 mandrax tablets and approximately half a kilogramme of dagga.

The total estimated street value of the haul is R20 500.

“While the police were busy with the raids, information was received that a wanted murder and robbery suspect was being harboured by a friend in Bochabelo Street, Vosloorus.

“The police arrested the wanted 36-year-old Swazi man as well as the friend who seemingly knew about the crimes committed by his friend in Swaziland.”

Arrangements, for the transfer of the fugitive to Swaziland are underway at Vosloorus police station.

The suspected drug dealers, whose ages range between 19 and 35, were booked at Vosloorus police station on charges of possession and suspected dealing in illicit substances.

They are expected to appear in the Vosloorus Magistrate’s Court soon. – @CarmenBoksburg
