School donates blankets to Round Table

As part of the Round Table Boksburg 17’s Winter Knights Project, Summerfield Primary School decided to render their assistance by knitting and crocheting blankets for the less fortunate.

The Winter Knights Project is an annual project where all the Round Table associations across the country distribute blankets among the underprivileged in helping fighting the cold during winter nights.

According to Terryn Sweetman, the school started as early as middle February with the preparations of this project.

“Each pupil and teacher knitted a small square where after all the squares were put together to make snugly warm blankets,” says Sweetman.

The school donated 100 blankets to the Round Table chairperson, Charl Scholtz, at the two school assemblies during the week beginning May 26, which will be distributed among the people on the streets and in informal settlements on Friday, May 30.
