Wool Centre assists rape victims

The Wool Centre is known for its yearly charity drive, in which it gives back to the community.

This year is no different, and owner Elizabeth Evans decided to choose the EPIC Foundation for 2014.

EPIC is a Gauteng-based foundation that sponsors rape survivors comfort packs for various victim empowerment centres across Gauteng.

The Wool Centre’s focus this year is on children and to collect items that are needed by EPIC Foundation to pack children’s comfort packs for victims of rape.

Items are packed into drawstring bags.

They are appealing to the community to knit, crochet or sew small plush toys (no bigger than 20cm), beanies, scarves, gloves and drawstring bags. Donated items will be handed over to the foundation in May.

More information on the EPIC Foundation can be found on their website, at www.epicfoundation.org.za.
