Owner reunited with beloved pet

Gina Narsee was recently reunited with her beloved dachshund, named Pankakes, who went missing on December 28, from Paul Kruger Street, Boksburg North, after an attempted break-in at her home.

She initially pleaded for help from the Advertiser, to find her missing pet.

Even though the Advertiser was unable to assist her, the Boksburg SPCA was alerted about the missing animal.

It seemed as if the animal had been lost forever, after he had been gone for a month.

However, Leon Smith brought him in to the Boksburg SPCA animal protection centre, after he found him in Trichardts Road, on January 31.

Boksburg SPCA manager, Wilma Steynbergh, immediately recognised the dog from the picture sent to her by the Advertiser.

“We want to thank Leon for bringing the poor animal in to the rescue centre. This is an example of how important the public is.

“If they find a lost animal, bring it to us; owners must also come and enquire whether their pets have been found when they go lost. This teamwork reaped beautiful fruit.

“We do not only understand how important the function of the SPCA is, but we are also thankful for those who assisted in making this reunion possible – including the Advertiser that is always there, and really cares,” she adds.
