Oliver Tambo’s life celebrated through song

Ekurhuleni will host a Melting Pot National Choral Festival on October 19, at Carnival City, to commemorate stalwart Oliver Tambo.

The event will celebrate the life and legacy of the liberation hero and will see South Africa’s top 10 choirs battling it out on stage for a R250 000 prize.

According to Sam Modiba, metro spokesperson, various local choirs have been invited to entertain audiences on the night of the festival.

Participating choirs are as follows:

*Voices of the Nation – Gauteng

* Gauteng Chorister – Gauteng

* Kopano Chorus – Gauteng

* Thabong Serenade – Free State

* Belcanto Voices – Free State

* Transnet Port Terminal Choir – Eastern Cape

* Heavenly Voices – Western Cape

* SA Singers – KwaZulu-Natal

* Clermont Community Choir – KwaZulu-Natal

* African Chorus – KwaZulu-Natal
