Fabulous reads – Buckle up for spine-chilling thriller

Book review - The Imposter by Anna Wharton.

The Imposter, Anna Wharton, Pan Macmillan, ISBN: 9781529037401

THIS intriguing novel focusses on Chloe, an archivist at a local newspaper who lives and cares for her nan with dementia. She is left reeling after an unfortunate visit by a social worker as a recommendation is made to place her beloved nan into a care home, leaving Chloe at a loose end.

ALSO READ: Fabulous reads – Book explores beauty of relationships

Another blow sees Chloe dismissed from her beloved archiving position and she becomes engrossed, to the point of obsession, with solving the mystery of Angie, a four-year-old girl who went missing 25 years prior.

Aside from her best friend, Hollie, and her new love interest, she has no one else and, throughout this book, you will slowly realise that Chloe has a tremendous yearning to find that one special person, or to be a part of a loving family. Without spoiling the ending. I can honestly say that I was gripped until the very end.
