THE eThekwini Municipality has assured residents affected by the power outages that its electricians are working tirelessly to rectify the problem.
The City’s spokesperson, Msawakhe Mayisela said they are aware of the high number of power outages currently plaguing various parts of the city.

“This situation has been worsened by yesterday’s (Thursday, October 14) extreme hot weather as well as the aftermath of load shedding,” he said.
Mayisela noted that several sub-stations blew up in different parts of the city and said this was the reason many areas have experienced power trips. He added that cable theft also remained a major contributor to outages in certain areas.
“Municipal teams are currently on the ground, attending to all affected areas. While some areas are back on the grid, we continue to work tirelessly to return the situation to normalcy,” he said.
