Band celebrates birthday milestone

To celebrate their milestone birthday, Salty Dog will enjoy a birthday boogie on Sunday, joined by The East Coast Basement Blues Band and Antonio and The Banderas.

LOCAL band, Salty Dog, celebrates its birthday with a bash at Musketeers, Barham Road, Westville, on Sunday, 22 November.

On Sunday, 1 November 1996, Salty Dog performed in public for the first time at Thirsty’s Dockside Diner. The musicians were Kevin Mason (guitar/vocals), Gordon Jackson (guitar/vocals), John Horn (drums), Deon Du Plessis (keyboard/vocals), Giles Chaplin (sax) and Errol “Smelly” Fellows.

Thirsty’s on a Sunday afternoon was The Dog Pound for over two years. Times change, and over the years, Salty Dog and fans saw familiar faces leave and new faces join. Gordon and Smelly are the only founder members still in the band.

To celebrate their milestone birthday, the band will enjoy a birthday boogie on Sunday, joined by The East Coast Basement Blues Band and Antonio and The Banderas, featuring Antonio and Joanne Ravell.

The music will start at 2.30pm and finish at around 7pm. Entry is R100 per person.
The kitchen and bar will be open.

To reserve a table, contact Charmaine on 031 266 0836 or 084 548 1358.
All Covid-19 protocols will be observed.
