THE Song of Names, Videovision Entertainment’s evocative new film about the extraordinary bond of friendship and music set against the backdrop of the Second World War, will be released exclusively on the Box Office platform of DSTV from Friday, 3 July, as a response to Covid-19 restrictions and precautions.
Durban’s Anant Singh, who was executive producer on the film, is excited to introduce this astonishing story which can be enjoyed in the comfort and safety of one’s own home. Martin Simmonds has been haunted throughout his life by the mysterious disappearance of his ‘brother’ and extraordinary best friend, Polish Jewish virtuoso violinist, Dovidl Rapaport, who vanished shortly before the 1951 London debut concert that would have launched his brilliant career.
Thirty-five years later, Martin (Tim Roth) discovers that Dovidl (Clive Owen) may still be alive, and sets out on an obsessive intercontinental search to find him and learn why he left.The film is directed by Academy Award nominee, Francois Girard and stars Clive Owen and Tim Roth in the two brothers, with Catherine McCormack and Eddie Izzard. At the heart of the film is music with the score composed by Grammy and Academy Award winner, Howard Shore and solo violin performed by Ray Chen.
