Special edition Jack Roush Mustang headed to SA
For those who don’t know, ROUSH is an automotive aftermarket development company that specialises in adding custom-built performance parts to cars, such as the Ford Mustang.
The company was founded by Jack Roush who not only had a passion for performance but a love for NASCAR as well.
Jack Roush worked at Ford after graduating in from college in 1966, he however left in 1970 to pursue his own company. Roush partnered with Wayne Gapp to race in NHRA, IHRA, and AHRA drag racing events. In 1982, Jack Roush partnered with a German tuning firm called Zakspeed to develop road racing vehicles for Ford. In 1988 Roush founded the NASCAR Winston Cup Series team. Today, the Roush Fenway Racing team currently has two cars in the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series. To date, Jack Roush has won eight championships as a car owner in the NASCAR series. This success throughout the years led to one of the most iconic performance tuners in the world, ROUSH Performance.
ROUSH Performance is best known for its wide variety of high-performance parts and even more so for their some 16 000 Ford Mustangs laying rubber on roads around the world. ROUSH adds visual improvements to Mustangs as well as suspension and handling upgrades. The company has even developed its own Supercharger kits which can see over 500kW being extracted from the engines. The company has over 1 500 performance parts that are suited for Mustangs, F-150 and Focus models. ROUSH also sells what is known as a crate motor. This is just an engine which comes in a big wooden crate and is a hit within the hot rod scene.
Last year, Jack Roush was selected as one of the five inductees for the 2019 NASCAR Hall of Fame class. To celebrate this momentous achievement ROUSH Performance has created a limited edition Jack Roush Mustang. The specific Mustang will feature around 577kW of power and feature a host of performance upgrades. Roush tuned every aspect of the new Jack Roush Edition Mustang from the aero and engine cooling to the brakes and computer-controlled MagneRide suspension.
As mentioned, the Jack Roush Mustang is a limited edition with only 60 of these high-powered Mustangs are being built for the U.S. market (and just 10 more for international markets, South Africa will, however, be getting three units making it a true collector’s item and just as special as the man who founded the company.
