More sting in the Mahindra Scorpio

The Mahindra Scorpio S11 features a brand new engine derived from its S10 Pik Up sibling.

The Mahindra Scorpio seven-seater has received an engine upgrade and now features the more powerful mHawk turbodiesel engine with common rail direct injection mated to a six-speed manual transmission. The motor which can also be found in the S10 Pik Up double cab comes in the shape of a turbocharged 2.2-litre unit, producing 103 kW and 320 N.m of torque, 15 kW more than in the previous model.

The S11 Scorpio retains the ladder frame chassis and models equipped with a four-wheel drive can alternate in between 4×2 and 4×4 by use of an electronic shift-on-the-fly system. The exterior features 17-inch alloy wheels which are allowed a 195 mm of travel from its double-wishbone suspension at the front and multi-link rear suspension and stands 180mm clear of the ground. The Scorpio retains a distinctive bonnet scoop, clear reflector headlamps and LED rear lights as the flagship amongst Mahindra’s range of off-road models.

As with the Pik Up S11 Automatic and S11 Karoo Automatic, the S11 Scorpio now features a 7.0-inch touch screen infotainment system with in-built satellite navigation. The system controls the integrated Bluetooth phone connectivity, navigation, selected vehicle settings and the image from the standard reverse camera. In addition to the reverse camera are integrated reverse sensors which augment the camera image. The driver can also expect a leather-trimmed steering wheel, which features remote controls for the infotainment, voice command and cruise control systems.

Warranty

The Mahindra Scorpio S11 comes standard with a four-year/120 000 km mechanical warranty and a five-year 90 000 km service plan.
