New album for Nibs

SA guitarist, Nibs van der Spuy, will launch his new anthology album A Circle of Swallows at the Westville Theatre Club, 6 St James Avenue, Westville, on Friday, 21 and Saturday, 22 February.

“These 17 handpicked, dreamy instrumentals and rural love songs represent a cross section of my recorded work over the past two decades. They are deeply rooted in the soil of my beloved KwaZulu-Natal, where the rolling, lush hills meet the Indian Ocean on the east coast of Southern Africa,” he said.

Nibs said a few years ago, he spread his wings and migrated north, making a second home on the Lisbon coast of Portugal, but like the swallow, which travels thousands of miles every year between Africa and Europe, he will always return to his roots. “In Portugal, swallows are symbols of romanticism, family, love and loyalty and also represent growth, time and new beginnings. I hope this anthology somehow embodies this and leaves you with a sense of home, as you journey to new frontiers and beyond,” said Nibs.
