Together again

The Duigan and Grace duo is an unusual combination of piano and guitar.

FRIENDS of Music in association with Christopher Duigan’s Music Revival presents Together Again with guitarist James Grace and pianist Christopher Duigan on Sunday, 26 January at Durban Jewish Centre, 44 KE Masinga (Old Fort) Road, Durban, at 3pm.

The Duigan and Grace duo, an unusual combination of piano and guitar, has won a popular following at major festivals and on stages across South Africa. Their programmes together include many of their own duo arrangements and improvisations on classic melodies, jazz standards, Latin milongas and Spanish classics.

For this concert Duigan will play a fascinating solo piano selection from his programme My Favourite Things, a choice of his personal favourites drawn from his repertoire. This includes music by Beethoven, Mozart, Chopin, Rachmaninoff, Scott Joplin, Ernesto Nazareth and Arvo ärt.

James Grace will play classical guitar solos from the Spanish repertoire by Albeniz, Tarrega and Granados. Their session will end with duo favourites, Black Orpheus, Fields of Gold, Tico Tico and Duigan’s own composition Indigo a favourite at any Duigan and Grace concert.
