Italian jazz guitarist tours Durban

Fabrizio Savino will perform two shows at venues in Durban next week.

ITALIAN guitarist Fabrizio Savino will perform at Alliance Francaise on Friday, 29 November and on Saturday, 30 November at The Chairman, Durban.

Savino was born in Bari in the South of Italy. He specialized in jazz guitar while studying in New York City. In April this year, he visited South Africa for the first ime and performed with the UNISA big band in Pretoria.

He will return for this small tour to play his new guitar trio project “Rebirth” with two musicians from South Africa, Braydon Hore and Freeman Gumede on bass guitar and Riley Giandhari on drums.

Savino’s fourth album “Rebirth” will be released in 2020. It is a modern jazz guitar project where he brings rock sounds and jazz music through deep contemporary jazz language.

The show on the Friday at Alliance Française de Durban, 22 Sutton Crescent, Morningside, will be at 7pm, with doors opening at 6pm. Tickets are R100 and can be booked through e-mail: info.afdbn@alliance.org.za. On the Saturday, the performance at The Chairman, 146 Mahatma Ghandi Road, is at 11pm. Entrance is R150.
