Baroque 2000 and beer

Sandile Mabaso will perform some famous and light-hearted drinking songs and catches by Henri Purcell at Baroque 2000's concert.

BAROQUE 2000 will stage its 6th Series Concert on Sunday, 3 November at the Church of the Mariannhill Monastery at 3pm.

The theme of this performance is “Baroque 2000 and Beer.” Sandile Mabaso, former tenor singer with the Drakensberg Boys Choir, will perform some famous and light-hearted drinking songs and catches by Henri Purcell as well as Love Sounds the Alarm, an aria extracted from Handel’s opera Acis and Galatea.

The ensemble will perform Telemann’s Story of Gulliver composed for two violins as well as Biber’s sonata for Scordatura and Handel’s Concerto Grosso Op6 No1 in G major. The audience will receive a complimentary pint of beer at the end of the performance.
