Internationally renowned musicians for Friends recital

Cellist Aristide Du Plessis and pianist Jan Hugo will be in concert at Durban Jewish Centre on 17 September.

FRIENDS of Music presents cellist Aristide Du Plessis and pianist Jan Hugo in concert on Tuesday, 17 September at Durban Jewish Centre, 44 KE Masinga (Old Fort) Road, at 7.30pm.

Aristide du Plessis has established a reputation as one of South Africa’s leading cellists, both as a soloist and chamber musician. Jan Hugo was born in South Africa and started his musical education at the age of seven in Pretoria. At 13 years old, Jan moved to Italy, and later furthered his studies in Leipzig, Germany. He has performanced in major concert halls and festivals throughout Europe and has been a soloist with all the top South African orchestras, and a regular guest at all the major music associations in the country.

Their programme includes Ludwig van Beethoven’s Sonata for Cello and Piano in G Minor, Op 5:2, Johannes Brahms’ Sonata for Cello and Piano in E Minor, Op 38 and Dmitri Shostakovich’s Sonata for Cello and Piano, Op. 40.

Tickets, which are available at the door or through Computicket, are R100 for members and R120 for visitors.
