German orchestra performs at City Hall

Das Bundesjugendorchester, the National Youth Orchestra of Germany, will perform in Durban on Friday, 9 August.

THE KZN Philharmonic Orchestra will host a one-off public-holiday afternoon concert featuring the 90-strong Bundesjugendorchester (BJO)/National Youth Orchestra of Germany in the Durban City Hall on Friday, 9 August at 4pm, as the first concert of their nationwide South African tour to mark the youth orchestra’s 50th anniversary.

Soloist for the concert is South African songstress Msaki – singer, songwriter and composer from East London known for her soulful folk. The National Youth Orchestra of the Federal Republic of Germany (BJO) is based in Bonn and features accomplished young musicians between the ages of 14 and 19 years old. The concert will be under the baton of Alexander Shelley – one of the most exciting conductors on the international podium today.
