Cyclone Idai Benefit Concert

An EFT to the United Nations will be made after the concert.

IN an effort to raise aid for victims of Cyclone Idai, vocalist and bassist Ildo Nandja will be performing at the Centre for Jazz and Popular Music on Wednesday, 3 April and at The Luthuli Museum in Groutville on Friday 5 April.

All entrance fees will be donated to aid victims of Cyclone Idai- and any further donations will be greatly appreciated. An EFT to the United Nations will be made after the concert. The donations link is:https://www.unocha.org/southern-and-eastern-africa-rosea/cyclone-idai

Hailing from Maputo, but based in KwaZulu-Natal and a steady fixture in the Durban jazz scene, Ildo Nandja is currently on the European circuit while pursuing further studies in the Netherlands.

His performance at Luthuli Museum will showcase some of the material he’s been experimenting with while overseas. Joining Nandja on stage will be Neil Gonsalves on keyboard and Riley Giandhari on drums.

Zimbabwean authorities began evacuating residents from the cyclone-hit town of Chimanimani on Sunday after flood waters weakened a dam wall.The area is among those hit by cyclone Idai, which has left more than 145 people dead and several hundred missing in Zimbabwe. The storm made landfall late on14 March, leaving more than 750 people dead in Mozambique, Malawi and Zimbabwe.
