ENTRIES are open for The Association for the Aged’s (Tafta) signature Trail Run event at the Virginia Bush Nature Reserve in Durban North on Sunday, 18 November. The annual sporting event, which is planned along an eco-route to appeal to fitness enthusiasts of all ages and fitness levels, also heralds the launch of Tafta’s annual Festive Drive to collect 'Christmas cheerboxes' of essential toiletries for elders including donations towards three-course festive meals for its elder beneficiaries.

“This year being our 60th birthday year, we truly want families to come out in their numbers to enjoy an early morning workout with us, and embrace our active ageing drive by staying healthy and fit. Participants of all ages are encouraged to bring along a friend, grandparent, and parents; anyone that is inspired by living a healthy lifestyle,” said Tafta Divisional manager; income development and marketing Gail Samuels.

To contribute to the special fundraising event, participants can compete in either the 4km at a cost of R60 or 8km at a cost of R90, as well as bring along their contributions to the cheerbox toiletry collection or donate towards an elder’s Christmas Meal at just R105 each. Pre-registration can be completed at www.wardevents.co.za or www.roag.co.za. On-the-day registration begins promptly at 5:45am. The race is scheduled to begin at 7am from the Virginia Preparatory School. Ccontact Ateesha on 031 332 3721 or email ateesha@tafta.org.za OR log onto: www.tafta.org.za
