22nd Poetry Africa Schools Writing Competition

The festival invites high school learners to take up.

YOUNG poets are invited to submit poems for the 22nd Poetry Africa Schools Competition organised by the Centre for Creative Arts UKZN with principal funding from the eThekwini Municipality. The festival takes place from 15 to 20 October.

Poems can be written in either English or Zulu on any topic, giving budding poets license to be creative. Up to two poems per learner will be accepted. All submissions must have the following information on the front page: full name and surname, school name, school contact details (email/ phone/ address).

All pages submitted must be numbered. Poems must be submitted either by hand at the Centre for Creative Arts (CCA), UKZN, Howard College Campus, Mazisi Kunene Avenue, Glenwood, Durban, or via email to nomfundo@cca-ukzn.co.za or by fax to (031) 260 3074. The deadline is 19 September 2018.

Winners will be given the opportunity to read their poems on the main stage of the Poetry Africa festival on 16 October 2018. Prizes will be awarded by Adams Booksellers and the Centre for Creative Arts (UKZN).
