THE search for the new face of MTV Base gets underway on 21 July at the Olive Convention Centre in Durban before moving across the country. At the end a rising star will be revealed and one person’s life changed forever in this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.
The winner will receive a 12-month contract while he or she also stands a chance to host MTV Base shows as well as interviewing stars, MC-ing events, attending international awards shows, walking the red carpet, and travelling the continent – all while being an ambassador for MTV Base and showing the rest of SA how to ‘live life in colour’ – in true Breezer style.

Auditions get underway from 9am to 4pm in each city. Hopefuls wishing to take the opportunity to be part of this exciting campaign need just arrive at the venue and bring their most colourful selves.
The next VJ is expected to have a passion for global and African youth culture and music, be authentic and live life in colour. Previous winners include Sizwe Dhlomo, Fikile Moeti, Nomuzi Mabena, Sandile Ntshingila and last year’s winner Tshego Mosupye.
