Call to artists to enter exhibition

The closing date for selection to the African Art Centre is 28 May.

DO you have a story to tell of your experiences of a father or a father-like figure? If so, enter the “Footsteps of the Father” exhibition which will take place at the African Art Centre from 7 June to the 1 July at Station Drive.

This theme selected to coincide with Youth Month, is about the roles that fathers play in society, which can be interpreted in many ways such as economics, family politics, social condition and the past and present.

What norms does society or the mass media (radio, television, literature etc…) give us, that tell us the characteristics of a great or negligent father? Does a father have to be a male figure?

What is your definition of a father based on your experiences? A father, like a mother, yields power and influence to affect the lives of their children negatively or positively.
