Collaborative art piece goes on sale

The exhibition opening of The Naked Heart Chandelier is on Thursday, 3 May.

A JOINT art piece by the African Art Centre and Umcebo Design, The Naked Heart Chandelier, has been made possible with funding from the National Lotteries Commission and the National Arts Council.

The work of art, which will go on exhibit on 3 May, is a glass bead, copper wire and crystal chandelier structure constructed by Umcebo Design following workshops with telephone wire weavers and beaders from the African Art Centre to produce component pieces for the chandelier.

The concept was to define, refine and pool individual strengths through a collaborative process. The chandelier will be sold as an art collectable.
