UKZN hosts comedy and jazz

The 90 minute outtake is one of the best rated and best attended evening entertainment experiences in Durban.

THE Centre for Jazz and Popular Music welcomes back SA’s premier comedy and jazz series at its 5th edition on Tuesday, 20 March at 6pm.

The 90 minute outtake is one of the best rated and best attended evening entertainment experiences in Durban. Currently in town from his one man tour, Troy Tesla will anchor a new line-up jam packed with the best of the city’s comedians and jazz musicians.

Andrew Hughes, one of the most sought after of Durban’s headliners will perform on the night. This family friendly act has toured SA and other SADC countries.

Also on the bill is Rory Petzer, comedian and entertainer, most notable for his machinations in satire and stunts as a presenter and producer at East Coast Radio.

Last but not least is Nonto Mondlane Miya, KZN’s queen of the funny, winner of the Best Indigenous Comedian SATMA Awards, and advocate for women in comedy.

On the jazz side, UKZN School of Music students will entertain. Guest artists are Mmeli Magwaza, a household name in the local poetry scene and regular attraction at annual uMbele Wethu Cultural Festival, and Nonhle Mkhize Indoni, a bilingual poet.
